The LED 220V strips are preferred by many people around the world, however, they’re not always the best choice.
We leave you 5 reasons why LED 220V strips are NOT “ALWAYS” the best choice when it comes to lighting design. Maybe after reading this guide you’ll change your mind.
1- LED 220V STRIPS ARE MAINLY DECORATIVE
One of the main features of the LED 220V strips is that their light output goes from low to medium. If the intention is to illuminate professionally, forget this option. You will end up upset and lose your money.
We recommend using them mainly as decorative elements or as a complement to other light emitters.
Many inexperienced people try to illuminate spaces professionally using this type of strip.
Don’t try to do it by yourself if you’re not sure how to do it professionally because the experiment won’t work out well.
2- YOU’LL SPEND MORE MONEY USING LED 220V STRIPS
When using 200V LED strips, achieving satisfactory light levels is always complicated, so you’ll need to use many more 220V LED strips than using 12V or 24V LED strips.
Consequently, you will need to use many more meters of light emitters for your project and therefore:
– increases the energy bill
– installation costs will be higher (as a result of the use of more meters of light emitters)
– execution times will be longer.
Conclusion: the use of LED strips at the end is more expensive than any other types of strips.
3- THERE ARE MORE “SAFE” OPTIONS THAN LED 220V STRIPS
LED strips are extraordinary design tools and are used to be integrated into the architecture, furniture and elements that make up the space.
This means that one of the actions to be considered when selecting a strip is “SECURITY”.
If we are talking about safety, then it’s much safer to use low-voltage LED strips instead of 220V strips.
For example, unlike high voltage or LED 220V strips, 12 V or 24 V use a transformer equipped with a safety device necessary to prevent serious accidents.
In addition, low voltage allows inserting LED strips into heat-sensitive bodies more efficiently
4- UNCOVERED 220V
High voltage strips have the advantage of being very efficient to avoid voltage falls.
However, projects or installations that require many meters of LED strips with a single connection are exceptional.
For safety reasons, it is always advisable to reduce the high voltage points that may be exposed to the public.
5-WITH LED 220V STRIPS ELECTRIC SERVICE CAN BE INTERRUPTED
When a failure or short-circuits occurs on a LED 220V strip, the system’s security systems will likely stop the electrical service.
On the contrary, when installed under voltage, the only thing that can be interrupted is the electrical passage of the transformer without affecting the rest of the areas.
Remember this design rule when you decide to turn on with LED strips:
When using LED lighting, it is recommended to prepare a project using the maximum levels of LIGHT EMISSION with the minimum number of lamps.
This way, you control the energy consumption and installation times .
Remember that making the wrong decision about what LED strip to use in a big project can make you lose a lot of money, not to mention the frustration and waste of time that this entails.
We recommend that if the project is complex, look for help from experienced professionals in the area.
